(N/A) An aerofoil is a specially shaped solid body designed to generate an upward dynamic lift when it moves horizontally through a fluid like air.
The cross-section of an aeroplane wing is shaped like an aerofoil, which influences the streamlines of the air flowing around it.
When the aerofoil moves against the wind, its orientation relative to the flow direction causes the streamlines to crowd together more densely above the wing than below it.
According to Bernoulli's principle, since the streamlines are closer together above the wing, the flow speed on the top surface is higher than the flow speed on the bottom surface.
This difference in flow speed creates a pressure difference (higher pressure below and lower pressure above),which generates an upward force called dynamic lift that helps balance the weight of the aeroplane.

$A$ closed water tank has a cross-sectional area $A$. It has a small hole at a depth of $h$ from the free surface of the water. The radius of the hole is $r$ such that $r \ll \sqrt{\frac{A}{\pi}}$. If $p_o$ is the pressure inside the tank above the water level and $p_a$ is the atmospheric pressure, the rate of flow of the water coming out of the hole is ($\rho$ is the density of water).

$A$ plane is in level flight at constant speed and each of its two wings has an area of $40 \,m^2$. If the speed of the air is $180 \,km/h$ over the lower wing surface and $252 \,km/h$ over the upper wing surface, the mass of the plane is . . . . . . $kg$. (Take air density to be $1 \,kg \,m^{-3}$ and $g=10 \,ms^{-2}$)

Water is flowing in a streamline manner in a horizontal pipe. If the pressure at a point where the cross-sectional area is $10 \,cm^2$ and velocity is $1 \,m/s$ is $2000 \,Pa$, then the pressure of water at another point where the cross-sectional area is $5 \,cm^2$ is: (in $\,Pa$)

Water is flowing steadily through a horizontal tube of non-uniform cross-section. If the pressure of water is $4 \times 10^4 \ N/m^2$ at a point where the cross-section is $0.02 \ m^2$ and the velocity of flow is $2 \ m/s$,what is the pressure at a point where the cross-section reduces to $0.01 \ m^2$?
